November 17, 2003 - The Waller ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to call a $18.95 million bond election for February 7, 2004 for the expansion of Waller High School.

October 8, 2003 - SHW Group, Inc. architect and Waller High School alumnus Erin Machac (far left) discusses Waller High School expansion plans with a group of the school's students on October 8. A two-day series of student and staff input meetings were held at WHS as part of the development process of the expansion plans.

September 29, 2003 - Board discusses WHS expansion

September 22 - Members of the Waller ISD Citizens Committee meet with SHW Group architects for a separate presentation and discussion of WHS expansion plans.

September 8, 2003 - A presentation by architectural firm SHW Group, Inc. regarding the proposed expansion of Waller High School was the first item on the action agenda at the regular meeting of the Waller ISD Board of Trustees on September 8. During the presentation and question-and-answer period that followed, SHW architect Erin Machac and Vice President Mark Lam provided Trustees with additional details on the different construction options Machac had outlined at the August Board meeting. Agreeing that they needed a separate meeting to go over the SHW proposals in-depth before considering a contract, the Board called a Special meeting on September 29 at 6:30 PM for that purpose.

August 11, 2003 - Representatives of SHW - the Houston architectural firm that designed Fields Store Elementary School - presented expansion plans for Waller High School to the Waller ISD Board of Trustees during the regular meeting of the Board on August 11. Earlier this year, a Citizens Committee, established to note and prioritize growth needs in the district, recommended the expansion of WHS to meet the needs of a rapidly increasing student population. Based on their study results, which indicated that WHS will exceed its capacity next year, the committee’s summary report recommended the remodeling of the facility to house 2000-2200 students. The report also recommended that the hall crowding issue at the school be addressed.
SHW architect Erin Machac presented two site and floor plan options to the Board. Both plans were based on the committee recommendations, programming meetings, and preliminary on-site studies - and both plans contained elements of additional space that can be used separately or in any combination to best meet student and financial needs.

May 12, 2003 - Needs Assessment Summation & Solutions Committee Report

November 2002 - Citizens Committee Presentation

October 2002 - The Board has approved the creation of a district-wide citizens committee composed of smaller study groups whose responsibility will be to gather and evaluate information. "The Waller ISD Board of Trustees is seeking community input in regard to the continuing growth and record enrollment throughout the district."
