Plan 1 Construct new High School
How enrollment would be affected by the plan using current numbers

If high school was built and grades were redistributed across the board:

Plan Specifics

  • Build High School (New) for approximately 2000-2200 Students

  • Address District Maintenance Needs and Technology

Cons:
1.      Cost of construction for new high school
2.      Developing plan for use of Existing Junior High (see below)
3.      6th Grade with older Kids

Pros:
1.      Addresses all growth needs for longest period (K-12)
2.      Cost effective
3.      Least disruptive to existing schools
4.      No additional personnel costs other than normal population growth
5.      New facility would be capable of 5A
6.      Addresses Junior High needs

Possible Uses of Existing Waller Junior High

  • West- Elementary  (23 Rooms)

  • East- AEP, Special Services, Community Meetings, Teacher Work/ Resources

  • Umland- Administration, or Other Resource

    Plan # 2
    Add on as needed to Waller High School and Roberts Road without building any new buildings.

    Plan Specifics
    Make changes to the high school as needed in the following areas:

    • Academic
    • Athletics
    • Band
    • Drill Team
    • Theatre
    • Choir
    • Library
    • Cafeteria

    Make Changes to Roberts Road in the following areas

    • Consider core facilities gym and cafeteria
    • Increase classroom space

    Other components of plan

    • Maintenance Needs as needed for other campuses
    • Technology needs for other campuses

    Cons:
    1.      High cost of remodeling the High School
    2.      Elementary would need expensive core expansion
    3.      High School would be locked into current layout because with additions it will no longer be suitable for use for       anything but as a high school
    4.      Roberts Road expansion would have to be balanced with existing floodplain
    5.      Roberts Road would exceed optimum elementary size

    Plan # 3
    Add on as needed to the high school and then build a new elementary

    Plan Specifics

  • High School Changes as listed (see plan 2)

  • Construct new elementary

  • Maintenance needs and technology needs

Cons:

  • High School Locked into current layout because with additions it will no longer be suitable for use for anything but as a high school

  • No alleviation of current junior high problems

  • Personnel Increase to staff new school

  • Higher cost than plan 2

Plan # 4
Add on as needed to the High School then build a New Junior High School

Plan Specifics:

  • Pk-3 Elementaries    

  • 4-5 Schultz                               

  • Build 6-8 New Junior High with 6 wing

  • High School additions as needed (see plan 2)

  • Maintenance and technology needs

Cons:

  • Higher cost over plans  # 2,3

  • High School Locked into current layout because with additions it will no longer be suitable for use for anything but as a high school

  • 6th grade mixed with older students
