policy
Waller Independent School District
Revised: November 10, 2003
The District prohibits the
use of all telecommunication devices, including cellular phones and
pagers/beepers, at all schools and school-sponsored or school-related
activities on or off school property, during the instructional school day.
Students shall be allowed to possess such devices; however, such devices
must not be visible and must remain turned off during the instructional
school day.
Students who violate this
policy shall be subject to established disciplinary measures, in
accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
When electronic devices are
confiscated, the following documentation shall be obtained:

date of confiscation

time of confiscation
-
location of confiscation
-
name of the person
confiscating the device

name and address of the
student possessing the device
-
name of owner if
different than student
-
description of the device
including serial number
The student's parent,
guardian, or nonstudent owner may pick up the device from the school after
showing proof of ownership. If devices are not claimed by the end of the
school year, the student's parent, guardian, and company whose name and
address appear on the device shall be given 30 days prior notice of the
District's intent to dispose of the device in a surplus property auction.
The District shall not
assume responsibility for these items if they are damaged, lost, or
stolen. |
