Board calls May 13 Trustee election
WALLER – During their
regular monthly meeting on January 9, the Waller ISD Board of Trustees
ordered an election for Saturday, May 13, 2006 to fill Positions 5, 6, and
7 on the WISD School Board. Currently holding those positions are David
Kaminski (Position 5), Robert “Bo” Pierce (Position 6), and Robert Carvell
(Position 7). The first day to file an application for a place on the
ballot is February 13; the last day to file an application is March 20.
Early voting by personal
appearance will be conducted each week day from 8AM-4PM from May 1-May 9
at the WISD Administration Building at 2214 Waller Street, Waller. On
Monday, May 8 and Tuesday, May 9 early voting hours will be conducted from
7AM-7PM.
In other agenda items,
the seven WISD campuses expressed their appreciation to the Board for all
the work they do for the district; and Board members gave 6-1 approval
(Trustee Paul Wood voted no) to a proposal for a Waller High School
graduate follow-up study. The appraisal and contract for Superintendent
Richard McReavy was unanimously approved as discussed in closed session.
In information items,
Duncan Lam of RBC Dain Rauscher presented the results of the sale of
refunding bonds; architect Erin Machac presented a report on the
construction at WHS; and WISD Director of Bilingual Education Martha Trejo
gave a power point presentation on the district’s Dual Language program.
Superintendent Richard McReavy reviewed updated local and legal policies
and Waller Junior High Grant Coordinator Rachel Caldwell reported student
improvement as a result of the new WJH Math Academy program.

were: February 13 – Regular Board meeting; May 13 – School Board Trustee
