WISD Board recognizes
outstanding student achievements
The Waller ISD Board of
Trustees recognized a number of outstanding student achievements during
their regular monthly meeting on February 13. WHS graduating senior Julio
Manrique was among those given special recognition as were Waller Junior
High All-Region Choir winners Charley Lauder, Shauna-Kaye Jones, and
Krista Levesque. T.F. Freeman Speech Contest winner Thomas Lindsey, a
student at Waller Junior High, performed the four-minute speech that took
top honors at the recent Alley Theatre competition.
In action items, the
Board unanimously approved policy updates as well as an emergency
management plan presented by Assistant Superintendent Danny Twardowski.
In other business, SHW
architect Erin Machac reported on construction underway at Waller High
School. According to Mahac, the project is scheduled for completion on
February 28, 2006.
WISD Curriculum Director
Joy Kanyo presented a report on the 2006-2007school calendar, and other
reports were given on staff attendance, the preliminary budget calendar,
campus improvement updates, and Board member continuing education.
Important
dates noted were: March 6 – Regular Board meeting; March 13 – Deadline to
file application for place on the ballot; March 20 – Deadline for write-in
candidates to file declarations of write-in candidacy. |
