Jan. 25
14 Waller High School (WHS) choir students competed in the UIL Solo and
Ensemble Contest at Stratford High School in Houston. Each student
performed exceptionally well, showed major growth and improvement on
their chosen solo, and was highly commended by the judge.
Each competitor sang one song from memory with live piano, and was
scored on a scale of one to five with one being “Superior,” the highest
possible score. Of the 14 who competed, 11 were awarded a “Superior”
rating and three were awarded an “Excellent” (two) rating.
Three students, Chelsea Contravis, Gloria Holloway, and Charlie

qualifying them to compete at the state level in May.
Other students who received a “Superior” rating were Brittany
Levassuer, Anjanae Harvey, Daniel Bernal, Austin Allen, Krista Levesque,
Johnathon White, Miranda Ingram, and Colby Boone.
