2006-2007 Teachers of the Year presented to WISD Board

The Waller ISD Campus Teachers of the Year were presented to the WISD Board of Trustees during the regular Board Meeting May 8. Selected by their peers at their respective campuses, the honorees were: Angie Ellis (Waller High School), Robert Smith (Waller Junior High), Shelly Elizalde (Schultz Middle School), Julie Wilganowski (Fields Store Elementary), Sandy Ferguson (Holleman Elementary), Denise Mayes (Jones Elementary), and Charlie Owens (Robert Road Elementary). The WISD District Teachers of the Year – Shelly Elizalde (Elementary) and Robert Smith (Secondary) – were announced at the meeting.
     The Board also recognized WHS senior Gus Soliz for graduating early to be a Marine, SMS student Dallas Kiser for appearing in a movie, WHS boys and girls soccer players for their All-District honors, WHS wrestler Whitney Disotelle for her trip to Nationals, WHS senior Ashley Shultz for receiving a $10,000 scholarship from Coca-Cola, WHS Track Team members for their appearance at Regionals, WHS BPA members for their Regional wins, and the WHS band for its Sweepstakes win.
     In other business, the Board voted 7-0 for the Waller ISD Drug Testing Policy presented by WISD Director of Athletics Jim Phillips, WHS Principal Kelly Baehren, WJH Principal Troy Mooney, and WHS Athletic Trainer Brandy Gothard.      Important dates noted were: May 25 – Last Day of School; May 27 – Graduation; June 12 – Regular School Board meeting.
