WJH  7th Grade Boys dominate District Track Meet

Waller Junior High’s 7th grade boys track team ended their winning season as District Champions after dominating the 18-4A district track meet.
     On day one of the district meet the team wracked up a commanding lead with 139 points; 76 points ahead of its nearest competitor. When the night fell on the second day of competition and final tallies were read, the WJH 7th grade boys posted an impressive 234 points, while second place Montgomery mustered only 108. WJH was able to accomplish this feat through a total team effort with multiple participants placing in each event.
     Jacob Smith took fourth and CJ Holguin took sixth in high jump; Jeremy Boone took second and Desmond Jordan took fifth in long jump. Boone also took gold in triple jump while teammate Boyett Chia scored points for the team in sixth place. Cody Theiss pole vaulted to the title of District Champion; teammate Colten Frisbee won the silver medal. Tyrone Walker threw shot put for sixth place and discus for the District title. John Montenegro was fourth in discus.
     Kewai Wilder won bronze in the 100 meter run (100M) and went on to take silver in the 200M. Jordan took sixth in the 200M and came back for a gold medal in the 400M; teammates Chia and Theiss took third and fourth respectively. In the 800M, Travis Johnson took silver, Race Mellman fourth, and James Kinney fifth. Indy Wachtendorf was second in the 1600M with Rodolfo Adame close behind in third, and Joel Villatoro in fourth. In the 2400M; Adame, Wachtendorf, and Villatoro swept the medal stand with gold, silver and bronze respectively.
      Smith took fourth in the 300M Hurdles and J’Wuan Ponteau took fifth. Dalton Tullos was the District Champion in the 110M Hurdles; Rhett Loewe was fourth.  
     The 800M relay team of Kyle Spears, James Perry, Logan Goebel, and Jeremy Boone came in fourth and the same team of boys finished as District silver medalists in the 400M relay. The 1600M relay team of Jordan, Wilder, Goebel, and Boone finished with the title of District Champion.
