Morley named Waller ISD Athletic Director, head football coach

April 14, Waller ISD’s Board of Trustees unanimously named Coach Jason Morley Waller ISD’s new Athletic Director and head football coach. Morley has been coaching at WHS since 1999. From 1999-2001 he was the quarterback coach and in 2001 he was named Offensive Coordinator (OC). His offense has been ranked in the Houston Chronicle’s “Top 5” in area class 4A several times in the last seven years. In 2007, it was ranked number three in the state in total yards in class 4A by the Texas High School Coaches Association’s Pressbox Services. Morley has been a part of six Waller Bulldog playoff appearances in the last nine years; five of those as OC. In 2003 the team made its way to the Regional Semifinals and in 2007 to the Regional Finals. The Bulldog offense has averaged at least 400 yards and 38 points per game for five of Morley’s seven years as OC.
     “Coach Phillips did a great job of preparing me for this role, and he deserves most of the credit for my development as a coach. We have a great staff in place and I look forward to continuing our success,” Morley said.
     “We are very pleased to have an outstanding young coach on the WHS staff ready to step up to the duties of athletic director and head football coach in our district. Coach Morley has been a very successful OC and I have confidence he will continue the successes of Bulldog athletics,” Waller ISD Superintendent Richard McReavy said.
     Morley attended Sonora High School in west Texas and played for Coach Bob Bellard. He went on to play two years of baseball and one year of football at Trinity University in San Antonio then finished his college education at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX before coming to work at Waller High School as an English teacher and coach in 1999. He is married to Brandi (Robertson) Morley, a native of Waller, and daughter of Joan Robertson and the late Richie Robertson.
