WJH Boys Soccer News

     So far this season, Waller Junior High’s 7^th and 8^th grade boys soccer teams are undefeated.
     April 10, both teams kicked off their seasons at home dominating Stephen F. Austin Middle School’s Broncos.
     The 7^th grade team won 4-2. The goal scorers for the Bulldogs were Jonathon Godoy, Alexis Cruz, and Omar Raygoza. Godoy scored two goals for the Bulldogs and was awarded MVP of the game. Other top performers for the Bulldogs were Abraham Perez (forward), Carmelo Rodriquez (defense), and Alejandro Avila (goalkeeper). The other players; Alexis Aguirre, Erick Castro, Victor Garcia, Jose Garcia, and Michael Espinoza; played exceptionally well.
     The 8^th grade team came out charging the Broncos and did not let up as they defeated the Broncos 10-0. Jose Espinoza scored three goals for the Bulldogs and was named MVP of the game. Other scorers for the Bulldogs were Roberto Salazar, Alfredo Jimenez, Nelsonet Godoy, and Evaristo Terrones; each scored two goals. Other outstanding performances came from Giovanni Sanchez (defense), Juan Suarez (goalkeeper), Maycol Arias (center midfield), David Escobar (center midfield), Mauricio Mandujano (defense), and Juan Garcia (forward).
     April 17, the WJH boys soccer teams defeated Sam Rayburn Middle School in Bryan, TX.
     The 7^th grade team won 7-0 over the Raiders. They dominated the entire game executing some exuberant plays. Joel Villatoro led the charge and scored two goals. Also scoring for the ‘Dogs were Rodolfo Adame, Abraham Perez, Jonathon Godoy, Alexis Cruz, and Carmelo Rodriquez. Alexis Aguirre, Victor Garcia, Jose Garcia, Micheal Espinoz and Alejandro Avilia played well also.
     The 8^th grade team continued the winning streak as they ransacked the Raiders 5-2. Alfredo Jimenez and Jesus Aponte both scored two goals and Nelsonet Godoy scored once. The rest of the 8^th grade team contributed to the win.
     Both teams are playing extremely well. Coach Laurence Christie is very pleased of the players’ performances and their work ethic.
