WISD Board meets in July regular session

     During the regular meeting of the Waller ISD Board of Trustees held July 9 the Board took time to recognize Waller High School’s (WHS) All-District baseball and softball players for their outstanding achievements during the 2006-2007 school year. Those players were Jake Seaman, Robert Loewe, Kurt Hancock, Garrett Heise, Jake Cimerhanzel, Zach Nichols, Cody Mikeska, Katy Beth Sherman, Gabby Ingram, Kayla Shaffer, Christine Brumley, Kelsi Loewe, and Sarah Holub. Shaffer has been selected to the USA Softball Junior Olympics team that will play in Peru during July. Past president, Paul Wood was also recognized for his years of service to the Board.
     The Board heard information on the WHS class of 2006 life track survey, TASB Update 80, and the 2005-2006 Financial Integrity Rating of the district. For the fifth consecutive year Waller ISD achieved all 21 indicators for a perfect financial rating from the Texas Education Agency. The Board is also proud to announce that Waller ISD has once again received a Moody’s AAA bond rating. In correspondence with the bond issue passed overwhelmingly by voters in May, the Board heard a construction planning update from Mark Lam and Dwayne Trahan with SHW Group.
     Important dates noted were: August 13 – Regular Board Meeting; August 27 – First Day of School; and August 27 – Special Called Board Meeting – Adopt Budget and Tax Rate.
