Waller ISD Food Service wins state awards at conference
WALLER ISD – Waller ISD Food Service
Administrative Assistant Stephanie Dalton was named 2006 Wellness
Challenge Person of the Year at the annual Texas Association of School
Nutrition conference held in Austin June 4-8. The Texas Wellness
Challenge is a year long program sponsored by Institutional Sales
Associates of Texas (ISA) to promote physical, mental, and spiritual
wellness. Members are required to submit quarterly reports and a final
report that are judged by a panel of professionals. Dalton was chosen
from over 150 members and awarded a $500.00 gift card.
The Waller ISD Food Service Department was awarded state-wide
recognition at the conference for a 12 percent increase in breakfast
participation. The increase was in large part due to the implementation
of a breakfast burrito bar at Waller High School, and the daily
district-wide offering of cereal and toast as a second entrée. The award
was accepted by Waller Association for School Nutrition President Nancy
Fletcher. WISD Food Service Director Whitney Johnson, and
Administrative Assistant Stephanie Dalton, both taught certification
classes to state-wide members at the conference. Johnson taught an
orientation class for first time conference attendees; Dalton taught a
class on stress management and a class on implementing a safety program
in a school district.
