Waller ISD Board Approves
2006-2007 Salary Schedule
During the Waller ISD Regular School
Board meeting held Aug. 14, the Board voted unanimously to accept the
2006-2007 salary schedule proposed by WISD Superintendent Richard McReavy.
All teachers, nurses, and librarians in Waller ISD will receive an increase
of $3,000 plus the next step on the WISD salary schedule. Beginning teachers
will receive a very competitive $40,000 annual pay. Teachers with a master’s
degree will receive an additional $700. The new salary schedule exceeds the
schedule required by the state. All employees not on the teacher salary
schedule will receive a four percent raise.
The Board heard updates on the 2006-2007 budget from Assistant
Superintendent for Finance Mike Marcus. Marcus also announced that, for the
fourth year in a row, Waller ISD has received a Texas FIRST Financial
Superior rating. This is the highest fiscal accountability rating a district
can be awarded.
In other business, the Board recognized two groups of outstanding
students; they were the 2005-2006 Waller Junior High (WJH) eighth grade boys
soccer team who won their District Championship May 11, and members of the
2005-2006 WJH Robotics team who won first place overall in the Kid’s Day at
Hewlett-Packard marketing and robotics competition in May. They also
recognized WISD’s new Director of Music, Cory Meals.
Important dates noted were: Aug. 28 – Special Board Meeting to Adopt
Budget and Tax Rate and Sept. 11 – Regular Board Meeting. |
