Waller ISD Board approved 2007-2008 Budget

During a special called meeting Aug. 27, the Waller ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to approve 2007-2008 fiscal year budget of $48,651,029 as proposed by Waller ISD Assistant Superintendent for Finance Mike Marcus. Some of the highlights include: a beginning bachelor’s degree teaching salary of $41,200; a $1,400, pay raise for all teachers, registered nurses, counselors, and librarians; a three percent general pay raise for all other Waller ISD employees; the addition of five instructional staff members; a projected tax collection rate of 93 percent; and a 2.84 percent projected growth in student enrollment.      In other business, the Board voted unanimously to approve a resolution to authorize a bond purchase agreement, the student expression policy, and an oil and gas lease. Tax rate will be adopted at a later date.
     Important dates noted were: September 3 – Student/Teacher Holiday and September 10 – Regular Board Meeting.
