Waller
ISD earns fifth consecutive Superior Financial Rating
Waller ISD Assistant Superintendent for
Finance Mike Marcus, announced at the regular meeting of the School Board
Oct. 8that WISD has earned its fifth consecutive “Superior Achievement”
rating under Texas’ Schools FIRST financial accountability rating system.
This is the highest possible fiscal accountability rating, and demonstrates
the quality of Waller ISD’s financial management and reporting.
This is the fifth year of Schools FIRST (Financial Accountability
Rating System of Texas), a financial accountability system for Texas school
districts developed by the Texas Education Agency in response to Senate Bill
875 of the 76th Texas Legislature in 1999. The primary goal of
Schools FIRST is to achieve quality performance in the management of school
districts’ financial resources, a goal made more significant due to the
complexity of accounting associated with Texas’ school finance system.
To achieve a “Superior Achievement,” school districts must achieve
19-21 of the 21 standards. All five years, Waller ISD has achieved all 21
standards.
The “Superior Achievement” rating illustrates that Waller ISD is making
the most of our taxpayers’ dollars, and are accountable not only for student
learning, but also for achieving these results cost-effectively and
efficiently. |
