Waller ISD, community
plan for future growth
Waller ISD Board President Robert
Carvell welcomed a large group of community members to a Citizens’
Committee meeting held Nov. 14 at Waller High School where WISD
Superintendent Richard McReavy shared the results of a demographic study
done by Populations and Survey Analysts (PASA). Waller ISD Board of
Trustee members were also present to hear from citizens and to stress
their desire for community involvement.
McReavy pointed out the Roberts Road Elementary is over capacity
now and, according to PASA’s “most-likely growth scenario,” all six
kindergarten through eighth grade campuses will be at or above capacity
by 2009.
Three citizens’ committees have been formed to discuss financial
planning; existing facilities; and capacity (enrollment, growth, and
grade structure) planning.
The next citizens’ financial planning committee meeting will be
held Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 6 p.m. in the Waller ISD Tax Office located at
1918 Key Street. The next citizens’ existing
facilities planning committee meeting will be held Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 7
p.m. in the Waller High School Cafeteria. The next citizens’
capacity (enrollment, growth, and grade structure) planning committee
meeting will be held Monday, Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. in the Waller ISD
Administration Building’s Board Room.
If you were not present at the Nov. 14 meeting, but would like to
join, you can! Simply attend the next scheduled meeting listed above or
contact Tracy Pershall at 936.931.3685 or
tpershal@wallerisd.net.
Each of the three committees will meet Dec. 13 to share interim
reports and again Jan. 29 to share summation reports. Feb. 19 the
planning committee as a whole will present a recommendation to the
Waller ISD Board of Trustees. If construction is chosen, an additional
elementary or middle school would not be available to open until fall
2009.
McReavy’s complete presentation from the Nov. 14 meeting and other
updates on committee meeting times, dates, etc. can be viewed at Waller
ISD’s website (http://www.wallerisd.net/bond/2006-2007
