WISD Board holds regular
meeting Nov. 12
During its regular meeting Nov. 12, the
Waller ISD Board of Trustees recognized the 10 Texas Education Agency (TEA)
Gold Performance Acknowledgements awarded to Waller ISD, Waller High School
(WHS), Waller Junior High (WJH), Schultz Middle School (SMS), Roberts Road
Elementary (RRE), and Jones Elementary (JES).
The acknowledgements were awarded for recommended high school program,
mathematics, social studies, reading, and writing.
The Board also recognized the WHS band for its first ever qualification
and performance in UIL State marching competition; WJH
cross country teams for earning the title of District Champion; the WHS
homecoming queen Christine Torres and king Dexter McKee; Mark Hutchins’ WJH
art class for restoring the rolling WHS bulldog mascot; and SHW Group’s
honors, awarded at the recent TASA/TASB convention in Dallas, for Value and
Process of Planning on the new addition to WHS completed in spring 2006.
The Board approved the consent agenda, as amended (consideration to
approve the budget change request was moved to the regular agenda), 7-0.
In the regular agenda, the Board voted 7-0 to approve candidates Stan
Forde, Royce Rape, and Tom Paben for 2008-2009 Waller County Appraisal
District Directors; Trustee Shaun Nelson as the delegate and Trustee Robert
Carvell as the alternate to represent Waller ISD at the Houston-Galveston
Area Council 2008 General Assembly; the 2006-2007 audit report; budget
change request; and electrical upgrades, installation of heating and air
conditioning in the gymnasium, and a new public address system at JES (the
funds will be reimbursed pending approval of the bond).
In other business, the Board heard from SHW Group representatives on
plans for Waller ISD elementary school #5, WHS Principal Kelly Baehren on
new course proposals for 2008-2009; and WISD Superintendent Richard McReavy
on Board Policy Update 81.
Important dates noted were: Nov. 21-23 – Thanksgiving Holiday and Dec.
10 – Regular Board Meeting. |
