students

Toro, The Houston Texans mascot, visited H.T.
Jones Elementary to talk to the
elementary students about healthy food
choices and the importance of exercise.
The event took place in the school
gymnasium where a video presentation was
displayed on a white projector screen

elementary schools celebrated “Go Texan Day” on
Friday, February 26th.

G.r.e.g.a.r.i.o.u.s. was the Region V Spelling Bee
winning word for Turlington Elementary student, Cody
Morgan. Cody and several Waller ISD students competed
against Bellville ISD students to win a chance to
advance to the Houston PBS Spelling Bee in March.

Ondijo and Lafferty Sign Letters of Intent

Waller High School seniors Jason Lafferty (L center) and
Jordan Ondijo (R center) signed letters of intent to play
football on National Signing Day. Lafferty will play for
the Blinn Buccaneers and Ondijo for the Duke Blue Devil
football teams next season.

Waller High School Senior Glen Gilliam and mom Linda Roush
(Front Row L-R) signed a letter of intent to play college
football for the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders.
Gilliam marks the third Waller High School football player to
sign a letter of intent from the Waller High School varsity
football team.

TCurrent Waller ISD Asst. Superintendent for Administration,
Danny Twardowski, was congratulated by the Waller ISD School
Board and Superintendent Richard McReavy immediately after the
board voted on his new contract to serve as the new Waller ISD
Superintendent effective July 1st. This was one of
the many highlights at the February School Board Meeting.

Waller ISD Superintendent Richard McReavy Announces Retirement
 |

Tears welled
in the eyes of numerous people as Richard McReavy, Waller ISD
Superintendent, announced with mixed emotions that he plans to retire in
June, 2010, after serving 40 years in education. McReavy made the
announcement at the December regularly called Board Meeting. He
said, “I have the best job in the world. It is the most
challenging job I have ever had and the most rewarding. I have an
outstanding Board, excellent Principals and Directors, and Assistant
Superintendents, with great teachers and staff, fantastic students, and
tremendous community support. Now is the time for a transition for
Waller ISD.”
