Waller ISD Food Service Department

School Meal Program
The Waller Independent School District Food Service Department, in conjunction with the district and community, will contribute to the education process and overall success of students by providing nutritious, low-cost, quality meals to students while providing excellent customer service.

Healthy School Meals Information
Waller ISD is committed to providing healthy meals. School cafeterias across the U.S. are meeting tough new federal nutrition standards for school meals, ensuring meals are healthy and well-balanced and providing students all the nutrition they need to succeed at school. Waller ISD has been making changes for the past several years toward these new goals. Students are offered daily varieties of fresh fruits and vegetables, low-fat and fat-free milk, whole grains, and entree choices that meet the guidelines for fat and calories for each specific age/grade group. For more information on the new nutrition standards click here.

Payment Procedures

Money may be deposited into student accounts with cash, check, or online payment. Advanced payment is not required; however, this process is convenient for parents, and a child is always insured of a nutritious cafeteria breakfast and lunch. Contact your school cafeteria manager or the Food Service Department for information or questions regarding the above payment procedures.

Beginning this year, the WALLER ISD will partner with Envision Payment Solutions to recover returned checks. Click
here for more information.

Meal Charging Policy
If an elementary child forgets their lunch money, a meal will be served and charged to that child's account. The parent or guardian is expected to pay for any negative charges on a child's account. Please use the online payment system to monitor your child's meal account closely so negative charges are not incurred. Low balance and negative balance notices will be sent home weekly with your child.

Secondary students with no money will not be allowed to charge meals. In the event the campus administration wishes to feed a secondary student with no money, the parent will be responsible for paying any negative balances.

Free/Reduced Meal Program
New this year...Parents may apply for the meal program ONLINE!
Please visit www.mealappnow.com/manwal to complete an application. It is not required for parents to apply online but may expedite the approval process.

At the beginning of each school year, students are provided an application for participation in the free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch program. Parents are encouraged to complete a free or reduced meal application if economic hardships exist. Applications expire each year and are not district transferable. A new application must be turned in each year. Eligibility decisions are based on federally established income and household size guidelines without regard to race, sex, color, national origin, age, or disability.

Students who attended WISD the previous year will have 30 days to eat at their last years status in order to give parents time to complete a new application. The previous status will be good until October 9, 2012.
