     WHS Computer Science Team wins State 4A UIL Championship
    
WHS Computer Science Team becomes the smallest school ever to win the Texas Computer Education Association Large School Division State Championship. WHS earned a perfect score in the contest
     WHS Computer Science Team wins Region III-AAAA Championship with the only perfect programming score in Texas (including all 180 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, and 5A schools)
     WHS Computer Science teams are ranked 1st, 2nd, and 5th among 4A teams and 3rd, 6th, and 20th among Texas schools of all sizes
by the Texas Computer Education Association
     WHS Computer Science team is top scoring 4A team/ two teams place in top five among all schools at the Texas Computer Education Association Regional Programming Contest

2004

     WHS Computer Science Team finishes regular season one point out of First Place in American Computer Science League international competition. A five-man WHS team will compete in the 2004 ACSL All-Star Contest in Chicago on May 29

2003

     Two WHS Computer Science teams qualify for the ACSL National All-Star Contest in Anaheim, California
     WHS becomes one of only six schools in the state to have all its teams earn enough points at the Texas Computer Education Association Regional Contest to advance to state competition
     The Waller ISD web site wins a 2003-2004 Golden Web Award from The International Association of Web Masters and Designers
     The Waller ISD web site wins a Web Site Excellence Award from The School Page

2002

     The Waller ISD technology education program is featured in the state-wide TACS TODAY magazine (October issue) in an article entitled "Waller ISD:  Providing Big Technology in a 4A District." 
     A new distance learning lab opens at Jones Elementary School as a result of a collaborative effort between NASA MU-SPIN, Prairie View A&M University, and Waller ISD.
     The main web site becomes the responsibility of Public Information/Public Relations and a new main site design and home page are launched
     A Waller High School computer science team takes third place over 65 (mostly 5A) schools in the Fifth Annual Compaq Code Wars Contest
     Waller High School ranks sixth in the state in the 2002 Texas Computer Education Association State Contest; the Waller High School 11th and 12th grade team places tenth in the state
     The Waller High School American Computer Science League Large School/Intermediate Team places twelfth in the ACSL All-Star (world-wide) Contest held in Montreal, Canada
     The Waller High School American Computer Science League Large School/Junior Team wins the National Championship in their division, then goes on to place sixth in the ACSL All-Star (world-wide) Contest in Montreal, Canada
     Five Waller High School students win individual awards for outstanding test scores at the ACSL All-Star Contest in Montreal
     Waller ISD and the Waller Community Network are awarded a $525,000 Community Networking Grant from the Texas Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund Board for developing a Waller community high-speed Internet network

     The Waller ISD web site wins a 2001 Texas School Public Relations Association silver star

2001

     Competing in the 5A-dominated Large School Division, twelve Waller High School first-year computer science students qualify for the Texas Computer Education Association Regional Computer Contest
     A three-student Waller High School computer science team comes in 15th of the 50 qualifying teams at the Texas Computer Education Association State Computer Contest
     The Waller High School American Computer Science League Large School/Intermediate Team maintains a perfect team score for the season and wins the National Championship in their division
     The Waller High School American Computer Science League Large School/Junior Team wins the National Championship in their division
     Six Waller High School students earn perfect season scores in American Computer Science League competition
     Competing with school districts of all sizes statewide, the Waller ISD web site wins a 2000 Texas School Public Relations Association silver star

2000

     The Waller High School computer science team made up of four first-year, female students defeats 51 other teams with four perfect season scores to win the American Computer Science League Small School/Intermediate Division National Championship
     A Waller High School computer science team (the only 4A team in competition with teams from eleven Houston-area 5A schools) wins the Novice Division Championship at the Klein Forest High School Computer Contest
     Competing with school districts of all sizes statewide, the Waller ISD web site wins a 1999 Texas School Public Relations Association gold star

1999

     Computers and integrated technology learning are in place throughout Waller ISD and a new Department of Technology Services is created. In addition to the department director, a full-time Network Administrator is hired.
     The Waller ISD staff development program is expanded to include paraprofessional personnel
     Waller ISD Curriculum and Instruction Director is invited to represent Texas on a five-state technology education panel at the 1999 U.S. Department of Education Regional Conference in Chicago, Illinois.

1997

     The Waller ISD Board of Trustees votes to spend $1.1 million in local funds for the installation of a fiber optic wide area network, making the district one of the first in the Houston area to provide such far-reaching technology capabilities for its students
     The Waller ISD Technology Team, composed of six campus teacher-technologists and the WISD Curriculum Director, is formed
     The technology program at Jones Intermediate School is featured in Images magazine published by the Texas Center for Educational Technology, and it is the subject of a video produced by the Texas Education Agency

1996

     Jones Intermediate School receives $10,000 from the University of Texas Health Science Center for the purchase of computers
     The Waller ISD web site goes online

1994

     Waller ISD has two full-time teacher-technologists, an intensive program of staff development funded by various grants and awards, and a campaign is well underway to meet the goal of computers in every Waller ISD classroom.

1993

     Jones Intermediate School is provided with video-conferencing through the 1992 partnership grant with Texas A&M University and Prairie View A&M University
     Waller ISD, represented by Jones Intermediate School, becomes an initial partner with Texas A&M University, the University of Texas at Brownsville, and Brownsville ISD in the Cultural Connections Distance Learning Program focused on technology and diversity

1992

     A partnership between Waller ISD, Texas A&M University, and Prairie View A&M University allows Waller ISD to create half-time technologist positions for two teachers
