    Maria Herrera is a resident of the Waller Independent School District since 1980. She was elected to serve on the Waller ISD School Board of Trustees in May 2018. Mrs. Herrera was employed with Waller ISD for ten years from 2006 through 2016. While working in Waller ISD, she served as the Family Engagement Specialist and as the Human Resources Assistant. Mrs. Herrera is currently the Employee Relations Administrator for Prairie View A&M University.

    Maria earned her B.S. Degree in Business Management - Human Resources from Western Governors University and was a graduate from Waller High School. She currently holds a SHRM Certificate in Human Resources, and a University of Houston Certificate in Mediation.

    Maria and her husband, Adam, are the proud parents of two children, David and Ariel. They are blessed with their amazing daughter-in-law, Emily, and their wonderful grandsons, Charlie, Oliver, and Miles. Maria’s husband, children, and daughter-in-law are all Waller High School graduates.

    Maria serves the community as a volunteer for more than 30 years in a variety of capacities. Mrs. Herrera has served on the Waller ISD 2015 Bond Citizens’ Planning Committee, in Special Friends mentoring program, and continues to be an active volunteer for Waller ISD. Maria and her family are active members of St. Katharine Drexel Parish where she currently volunteers in fundraising activities, assists with Youth Ministries activities, serves as a high school Faith Formation Teacher, and a member of the Parish Council.
