Dear Waller ISD Family,

On behalf of the entire Waller ISD team, I want to express my deepest gratitude for your engagement, your vote, and your continued commitment to our students, staff, and community.

We are excited to share the results of the November 5, 2024 bond election. The unofficial final vote totals from Harris and Waller Counties have now been compiled to give us our cumulative results. We are thrilled to announce that Proposition A has passed with overwhelming support, receiving nearly 58% of the vote! This is a huge win for our students, staff, and the future of Waller ISD. With the approval of Proposition A, we will be able to move forward with the construction of two new elementary schools (#9 & #10), junior high #3, and high school #2, as well as land acquisition for future district facilities and the purchase of buses to keep up with our growth and replace aging fleet vehicles. All of this will be funded without any increase to the current tax rate, ensuring we continue to meet the needs of our district with fiscal responsibility. While Proposition B, for student and teacher devices, did not pass, we are already exploring alternative strategies to meet state requirements.

The approval of Proposition A demonstrates the incredible support this community has for our schools and the bright future of our students. The new schools will help minimize overcrowding, ensure our campuses are safe and secure, and provide the necessary resources to maintain the high standard of education Waller ISD is known for. Your vote for Proposition A was not just a decision for the present; it was an investment in our children’s future and the legacy of our community.

So, what happens now? Our teams are already hard at work planning the new campuses. Junior high #3 and high school #2 will be located south of Highway 290 in the Jubilee development near Katy Hockley Road. Based on our current enrollment and growth projections, we anticipate construction on high school #2 will begin in Spring 2025, with a projected opening in August 2028. Junior high #3 is slated to begin construction in Spring 2026, with a possible opening in August 2029. Please understand that this plan may be adjusted as needed based on student enrollment, construction timelines, and economic conditions.

In addition to the new secondary schools, we will add elementary #9 and #10 to the district. The exact locations will be finalized based on population density. Our construction updates are available by clicking here.

Waller ISD is one of the fastest-growing districts in Texas and it is essential to strategically plan to meet the challenges and opportunities ahead. Since 2018, our long-range planning committees have worked tirelessly to help guide our path to the future. This bond election is a reflection of that work and a testament to the strength of our community.

Estamos emocionados de compartir los resultados de la elección de bonos de noviembre 5 de 2024. Esta es una gran victoria para nuestros estudiantes, personal y el futuro de Waller ISD. Waller ISD Calls Nov. 5 Bond Election to Address Growth
The Waller ISD (WISD) Board of Trustees has called for a Nov. 5, 2024 bond election following the recommendation of the 2024 Long-Range Planning Committee that spent this spring analyzing the district’s growth data, financial information, and facilities needs. The proposed bond package includes the construction of two new elementary schools (#9 and #10), junior high #3, and high school #2, land for future district sites, buses, and technology. One hundred percent of the bond addresses growth across the district’s 328 square miles.

“Since 2018, we have taken a very strategic approach to planning for our future in order to take the best possible care of all of our students, while also working diligently to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars,” WISD Superintendent Kevin Moran said.

WISD is one of the fastest-growing school districts in Texas. Enrollment is projected to triple over the next 10 years to more than 27,000 students.

Voters will be asked to consider the bond proposal in two propositions. Proposition A for the construction projects, land, and buses ($702,500,000), and Proposition B for technology, including student and teacher devices to help meet state requirements, accommodate for growth, and replace aging devices ($11,000,000). If approved, the bonds will be funded using the existing tax rate. It is important to note that since 2018, the WISD Board of Trustees has voted unanimously to lower the district’s tax rate by $.34 from $1.44 to the current rate of $1.1069.

“Waller ISD is committed to putting students first and continuing fiscal responsibility. We have done a lot of work in the last few years to create new and refreshed schools to address the growing population of the district.” WISD Board President William Warren said. “Our proactive approach and mindfulness of taxpayers are strong testaments to our strategic planning. The November 2024 bond election is an opportunity to continue on the path of long-range planning that we began in 2018.”

This election comes following voter approval of bond propositions in 2019 and 2022. All of these projects are either completed or well underway. WISD is proud to report that they are all on schedule and budget, as promised to the community. Construction updates are available on the district’s website.

El Consejo Escolar de Waller ISD (WISD) ha convocado a una elección de bonos para el 5 de noviembre de 2024 siguiendo la recomendación del Comité de Planificación a Largo Plazo de 2024 que pasó esta primavera analizando los datos de crecimiento del distrito, la información financiera y las necesidades de instalaciones. El paquete de bonos propuesto incluye la construcción de dos nuevas escuelas primarias (#9 y #10), la escuela junior high #3 y la high school #2, terrenos para futuros sitios del distrito, autobuses y tecnología. El cien por ciento del bono aborda el crecimiento en las 328 millas cuadradas del distrito.
