Student Teaching, Internship, Resident, and Observation

Waller Independent School District welcomes partnerships with colleges and universities to support the development of future educators through student teaching, teacher residency, and observation opportunities.

Application Process

Individuals interested in participating in any of the opportunities listed above must apply through the district’s online job board during open application periods. If a posting for Student Teachers or an Observer is not currently active on the job board, Waller Independent School District is not accepting applications at that time.

Requirements

Applicants may be required to:

  • Be enrolled in an approved educator preparation or university program
  • Complete a criminal history/background check if applicable
  • Submit required university documentation or agreements
  • Meet district deadlines and campus placement expectations

Placement Information

Placement opportunities are limited and are based on:

  • Availability of qualified mentor teachers
  • Campus and program needs
  • Approval from district and campus administration
  • Submission of an application does not guarantee placement.

Important Notes

  • All placements must be approved through the district application process prior to beginning any observation or clinical experience hours.
  • Direct campus requests or informal arrangements are not permitted without district approval.
  • Communication regarding placement status will be provided through the contact information submitted in the application.

Residencies and Interns

Teacher Residencies and Internship opportunities are coordinated directly between the partnering college or university and the Chief Human Resources Officer. Colleges or universities interested in establishing a residency or internship partnership with Waller ISD should contact the CHRO via email to discuss program requirements, placement availability, and district expectations.

Once requirements and placement details have been mutually agreed upon by the district and the college or university, Waller ISD will create the appropriate job posting for Teacher Residents or Interns. Individuals participating in these programs must apply through the district’s online job board during the designated application period.
