Guided Practice

Guided practice is a good tool to use in math because it allows the teacher to work with students in a small group setting to ensure that the attention and interest of the students who need more depth instruction are met.  Teachers are also able to ask questions and walk students through the process of solving math problems.

Student Benefits

When participating in this type of practice, gives students the feeling of being safe to ask questions, think critically and reflect on their own understanding.

Guided practice walks students through step-by-step practice where they can talk through processing their understanding of the concepts.
