Dropout Prevention
Waller ISD believes in the power of education and is committed to helping every student successfully complete high school and prepare for life after graduation. We understand that students and families may experience challenges that can make staying in school difficult, including financial hardship, family responsibilities, housing instability, attendance concerns, academic struggles, health or personal challenges, or other life circumstances.
If a student is struggling or considering leaving school before graduation, we encourage the student or family to reach out before making that decision. Waller ISD staff will work with the student and family to identify barriers and explore available options and supports.
Depending on the student's individual circumstances and needs, support may include:
- Academic intervention and credit recovery opportunities
- Individualized graduation planning
- Attendance support and intervention
- Counseling and social-emotional support
- Connections to school and community resources
- Career and Technical Education (CTE) opportunities and career pathways
- College, career, and military readiness support
- Alternative or flexible educational options, when available and appropriate and
- Assistance connecting students and families with additional district programs and services.
Our goal is to identify barriers early and work together to develop a plan that gives each student the best opportunity to remain in school and earn a high school diploma.
