F.A.I.T.H. Mentoring
The Waller ISD FAITH Mentoring Program serves students in grades K–12 through a cooperative effort of staff and community volunteers. The program is designed to provide students with positive relationships and ongoing support while encouraging them to stay engaged in school and focus on future educational and career goals.
F.A.I.T.H. stands for Focus on Academics, the Individual, Tenacity, and Health.
FAITH mentors meet with students during lunchtime and spend time building positive, trusting relationships. Activities may include:
- Talking and spending time together
- Playing games
- Reading together
- Working on crafts or other activities
- Providing encouragement and academic or personal support
Mentors serve as positive role models and provide ongoing support for students' educational and personal growth. Through these meaningful relationships, the FAITH Mentoring Program seeks to:
- Build student confidence and self-esteem
- Promote a positive attitude toward school and learning
- Support academic achievement
- Encourage regular school attendance
- Provide students with meaningful relationships with caring adults
- Encourage students to set educational and career goals
