Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Elizabeth Haag

I love teaching children of all ages.  I grew up in Austin, Texas as the oldest of three.  I have an uncle and two aunts who are teachers.  I wanted to be a teacher at a young age being inspired by my 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Sullivan.  She pushed me to do my best and never gave up even though I was a struggling student.  I started college at SFASU where I met my wonderful husband.  After getting married and moving to Houston I graduated from the University of Houston in 1995 with a degree in Early Childhood Education (Pre-K through 6th Grade).  I received my certifications in EC-6 Generalist and ESL Supplement.

I have 21 years of experience in teaching.  One year in a private Mother’s Day Out Program as a Kindergarten teacher. One year at CFISD as a Kindergarten and 1st grade teacher.  Thirteen years with the Houston ISD.   While working at Houston ISD, my teaching experience was with the following grade levels: Pre-K, 1st, 3rd, and 5th.  I started substituting in Waller ISD in 2013 after taking three years off of work.  I became a long term sub. at Turlington and fell in love with the environment, students, and staff and continued the rest of the school year as a STAAR Tutor.  I became a full-time teacher in the 2014-2015 school year.  This will be my 20th year teaching in public schools and 6th year at Turlington ES.  I am very excited to return for the 2019-2020 school year.  I look forward to my Pre-K students walking into my classroom so I can shape them into young learners.  I want them to enjoy coming to school and learning.

I have been married to my wonderful husband for 30 years.  We have 4 wonderful children, 3 boys and a girl.  My oldest, Joshua is working on his degree in teaching at the University of Houston Downtown Campus.  He plans on teaching high school Science and coaching Swimming and Water Polo.  Zachary has decided to work as he decides on his path for the future.  Austin is going to be a Sophomore at The University of Texas where he is majoring in Photography and Nursing.  My youngest, Gwendolyn is going to be a Freshman at King University where she will continue her swimming career.  She is undecided on what she wants to major.
