Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance: Indiana University
Mrs. Molly Englert
Welcome to Music at Roberts Road Elementary!
My name is Molly Englert, and I am so excited to be with your students for another year of music! I have the pleasure of seeing them grow from Kindergarten all the way through 5th grade, and it is a truly unique experience! I have been around music my entire life - I sang in school choirs, church choirs, competed in high school ensembles and singing competitions, and then went on to get a Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Performance from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana....and I have been the music teacher at Roberts Road ever since! I still take private voice lessons, sing in church and at weddings all over the city of Houston, and I am also the lead singer of a Jazz Ensemble that plays monthly! Music is my passion, and I love that I get to share that with your children!
Your students are in for a new and exciting school year as he or she learns more than ever about music this year! In our class, students will continue to learn new skills and concepts that will for the foundation for a lifetime of musical enjoyment. We will explore the concepts of rhythm and beat, learning more complex rhythms and how they are written and used by using a staff with measures, notes, and rests. We will also be moving and grooving to different tempos, meters, forms, and styles of music, and we will explore how dynamics and tone color are used to enhance musical pieces! At home, you can reinforce your child's learning by sharing music that you love!
There is an interactive website that we have used in class and, with your help, students are free to explore it at home! Try it out at www.quavermusic.com
Lastly, each grade level will put on a music program here at school! Students will have the opportunity to shine on stage through songs, dances, and acting! Be on the look out for more information about your child's music program this year!
I am here to help your child explore our musical world. Thank you for whatever assistance you can offer this year: at home, at school, or both. Together we can create a musical learning experience for your child that will enrich his or her life for many years to come!
I am looking forward to a great year!
