B.S Psychology Minor in Spanish

Mrs. MIA ROY

Hello and howdy!

I am so excited for this upcoming year!

This is my fourth year at WJH teaching 6th grade Reading and Language Art; however, I have been teaching since 2012. My first years in education consisted of teaching elementary grades, 1st-3rd and 5th. I have taught in both bilingual and general education classrooms. My primary goal as a teacher is to serve and teach the students to my best ability, so that they may excel as students and world citizens.  I've achieved a Bachelor's of Science degree in Psychology at Xavier University in Louisiana in New Orleans, Louisiana.

During my undergrad years, I've volunteered in mentoring and tutorial programs for students K-12. From helping kindergarten and 1st graders grasp basic and foundational skills, to helping students in middle and high school navigate through more complex studies, I have been hands on with teaching, both in the classroom and out of it. I assisted high school students with college readiness skills, as well as, help with their ongoing high studies. Also, during my matriculation at XULA, I travelled to Spain and taught students who faced challenges due to various handicaps, both mental and physical.

I enjoy several recreational activities such as sleeping, reading, and spending quality time with my loving family.  Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your child's life here at Waller Junior High.
