The Pre-Kindergarten program at RRE is aligned with the newly revised Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines. These guidelines are based on current knowledge of theory and scientific research about how children develop and learn through participation in meaningful and relevant learning experiences. Our program at RRE covers the following ten domains: Social and Emotional Development, Language and Communication, Emergent Literacy Reading, Emergent Literacy Writing, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Fine Arts, Physical Development, and Technology.
Children learn to adapt and function successfully in a classroom setting through well planned, purposeful and playful daily experiences. The PK program at RRE provides learning through large group, small group and individualized learning areas. Learning concepts are supported during the school year through at least seven centers- Pretend and Learn Center, Writer’s Corner, Library and Listening Center, Construction Center, Math and Science Center, Creativity Station, and ABC Center.
Family support is an integral component in the success of each PK student. In Pre-Kindergarten ,families are encouraged to daily talk, listen and read with their child. Families need to be active participants in their young child’s education.
