Teacher of the Year
JES 2017
Felicia Ervin!
My name is Felicia Ervin.  I am from the beautiful island of Galveston.  My husband and I moved to Waller County in 2001 and have called it home ever since.  This is my second year at H.T. Jones Elementary School as part of the first grade team.  I graduated with my Bachelors’ of Science in Psychology and obtained my Master of Arts in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University.  I have worked with school-age children for over 10 years and have three little ones of my own.  In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, working out, reading, and traveling.

First grade is a very exciting year as children embark upon their journey of learning.  I will strive each day to make learning a fun and enriching process for each child.  I believe in helping each student become the best possible version of themselves.

Para Educator of the Year
JES 2017
Paula Williams!
Joy is when you find your place in this world. I found mine when I walked into H. T. Jones Elementary in 2001. I have learned so much from being a substitute teacher, volunteer, working in the front office, and now as a para-professional. To have been able to walk in all those shoes has made me appreciate everything everyone does at Jones and makes me better at my job. I learn something new every day from my teachers, the support staff, and most of all, our students. It is an honor to work at Jones. The appreciation everyone shows me on a daily basis makes me want to work that much harder and brings me nothing but pure joy.
Rookie of the Year
JES 2017
Douglas Bolar!
Hello! My Name is Douglas Bolar III, I graduated from Prairie View A&M University with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 2002 and in 2007 I obtained my Master’s in education Administration. I worked in the Oil and Gas Industry for a company called Schlumberger and I realized how I missed teaching. I tutored individuals in mathematics while obtaining my first degree and I enjoyed the rewards I received from the people I helped. In 2005 I received my 4-8 Generalist teaching certification and my EC-12 Special education certification. I became a first year teacher with Houston ISD and I was promoted from the classroom to the Office of the Assistant Superintendent as a District Program Specialist. In 2016 I received my EC-6 Teaching Certification. I worked as a Program Manager for a company that provided services for individuals with disabilities prior to joining the Waller ISD family in 2016. I am truly blessed for an opportunity to work, teach, and inspire tomorrow’s future generations. My family and I are vested in Waller ISD because my three youngest children attend and my wife is employed in Waller ISD. I am honored for being a candidate for Rookie of the year but my reward comes from the hugs, smiles, and progress students give from my efforts to promote achievement. My success comes from God, parents, staff, students, and my family. I am very grateful and humbled by my 10 years in various forms of the educational process.
