Waller ISD Board Appoints Trustee William Warren
May 18, during a Special Called Meeting, the Waller ISD (WISD) Board of Trustees appointed Waller native William Warren to Trustee Position 1. Warren replaces Joe Landin who had dedicated nearly 10 years of service to WISD.
“We’re going to miss Joe’s input on the Board,” President David Kaminski said. “He’s been a valuable part of the team over the years, but we understand his decision to step down. While we’re losing Joe, we’re also gaining a new perspective from William. He’s been following our work and present at Board meetings consistently. He was raised in Waller and has a vested interest in serving our families, schools, and community. In my opinion, he was the obvious choice for the position.”
Landin had planned to step down from the Board for family reasons and did not apply for re-election in the May 2020 Regular Board Election. Warren applied for the position and was set to run unopposed. The May election was postponed to November 2020 due-to COVID-19. When Landin stepped down as planned, the Board voted unanimously to appoint Warren to Position 1, which he would have naturally taken had the election not been postponed. Warren will fill Position 1 by appointment until the November election when he will still run unopposed.
“William has been very active in our district,” WISD Superintendent Kevin Moran said. “He truly has a heart for our teachers, kids, and community and has shown his willingness to help in any way possible. I look forward to getting to know him better and working together.”
Like school activities during the COVID-19 closure, WISD Board meetings have continued virtually via Zoom. All WISD Board updates are available at https://wisd.fyi/BoardofTrustees.
