Author Tom Angleberger Visits Holleman ES

Photo of HES Author Visit March 18 Holleman Elementary (HES) students were treated to a special visit from bestselling Children’s Author Tom Angleberger and Illustrator Jared Chapman. Angleberger and Chapman who were traveling on a tour to promote their new book Didi Dodo Future Spy: A Recipe for Disaster.

Angleberger and Chapman spent time discussing their new book and how long it took to create. Angleberger spoke about how it took him two years to write Didi Dodo because of the continuous editing process involved. Once the book is finalized, Chapman begins illustration work. They also talked about the education they completed and how many years it took them to become an illustrator and author.

“I hope students understand that writing and illustrating can be fun, but it also requires hard work,” HES Librarian Deborah Politsch said.

For a majority of the presentation, Angleberger and Chapman called on students to help create drawings from their suggestions. Students were thrilled to be included in their presentation and having their ideas come to life. Their illustrations are currently on display in the HES library.
