Welcome Holleman Elementary Principal Michelle Sciba

Michelle ScibaWaller ISD’s (WISD) Board of Trustees approved Michelle Sciba as the new principal of Holleman Elementary (HES) during its regular meeting on Monday, June 13. Sciba was selected after the district reviewed input from staff and parents and an interview process that included representatives from both groups. Sciba has 15 years of experience in education and has served the WISD family since 2013. She became the campus’ interim principal in April 2022 and brings leadership experience from her roles as assistant principal, instructional facilitator, instructional coach, and team leader.

“I became part of the Holleman family four years ago and this school has my heart,” Sciba said. “It is a true honor to lead this incredible family and collaborate with the students, staff, and parents I already love.”

The interview committee recommended Sciba to the Board for approval noting her approachable and knowledgeable leadership style and the established relationship she has with the school that will help move it forward.

“Every Friday we sing that Holleman is a ‘great place to learn’," Sciba said. “The students, staff, and parents here are the reason this statement is true! The relationships within our school family are like no other and I am proud to be a part of it.”

She is dedicated to listening to her team and working together to continue the school’s legacy of greatness. On a daily basis, she is actively engaged with the HES family as seen in her visibility in hallways and classrooms providing guidance and support as needed.

“Mrs. Sciba is the kind of leader who takes time to really listen to her students, staff, and parents,” WISD Superintendent Kevin Moran said. “It’s obvious when you talk with her that the HES community is family to her and that she is willing to do whatever it takes to care for not only their academic needs but also their all-around needs. She truly cares about helping every student achieve their highest potential.”

Sciba began her career as a teacher in New Caney ISD and also taught in Wharton ISD before moving to Waller. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin and Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from the University of Houston - Victoria. She is a native of Wharton who now calls WISD home with her husband of 16 years, Matthew. The couple has two children. One who attends SJH and one at HES.
