For the first time, Waller ISD (WISD) held a districtwide Advanced Academics Awards Ceremony to celebrate the success of several students. In the past, students were recognized in individual ceremonies. WISD Administration decided to combine the ceremonies to highlight students on a larger scale. This year, more than 100 students were recognized.

It encompasses a variety of programs for students to join such as Gifted and Talented, Odyssey of the Mind, UIL, Spelling and Geography Bee, and Advanced Placement classes. The goal is to build the strongest Advanced Academics program in Texas.
“We are so proud of the work these students have put in this year and hope they continue into following years,” Weesner said. “We also have to thank their parents for all their help in school and at home.”
At the ceremony, five groups were recognized: District Geography Bee Champions, District Spelling Bee Champions, Campus Scripps Spelling Champions, Autumn UIL All-Stars, and Junior High District UIL Champions.
