Schmidt Named Jones ES Assistant Principal
Brigitte Schmidt, a 13-year veteran educator, was named Assistant Principal of Jones Elementary (JES) during the May 13 regular meeting of the Waller ISD Board of Trustees. Schmidt currently serves as counselor of Turlington Elementary (TES). At JES, she replaces Ashley Kinney who was named principal in March.
“Words cannot describe how I feel,” Schmidt said. “I am so excited to join the amazing team and community at Jones, but at the same time I am incredibly sad to say goodbye to team Turlington and all the great kids there. I look forward to helping Mrs. Kinney lead and build on Mrs. Bates’ (JES principal retiring in June) legacy of ensuring students, staff, and parents feel valued and loved all the time.”
Schmidt has served as a teacher and counselor in Waller ISD for seven years. She has also taught in College Station ISD and Katy ISD.
“We’re excited to have Mrs. Schmidt bring her expertise to JES,” Kinney said. “She has a great energy and ability to connect with people and always has students’ best interest at heart. I look forward to having her on campus.”
Schmidt will begin her transition to JES starting May 20. She will help ensure a smooth end to the school year at TES while also helping plan for the 2019-2020 school year at JES.
