Waller ISD Prepares for Another Great Year at Back to School Fair

Back to School Fair With the first day of school quickly approaching, Waller ISD (WISD) is doing all it can to make sure students and families are prepared. During the Annual Back to School fair, WISD gave over 820 backpacks filled with school supplies to students, beating the previous year by more than 200 backpacks. This event is only possible with the support of generous sponsors. With their contributions, the district is able to offer the fair at no cost to families.

“Our number one goal is to provide a free backpack and supplies to as many students as possible to help families,” WISD Family Engagement Specialist Adela Cornejo said.

The Back to School Fair was created not only to provide supplies, but also to give families the opportunity to connect with local support and resources. Families were able to meet with and learn from 31 community organizations. Along with being present, the organizations also provided giveaways, promotional items, and door prizes. This year, the fair included free haircuts and immunizations for students. Over 56 haircuts and 71 vaccines were provided.

“As a district, we strive to bring our community together so families can build relationships with local businesses and organizations to learn about available resources,” Cornejo said.
