WHS Theater Wins UIL 1st Place, Advances to District

WHS One Act PlayCongratulations to Waller High School’s (WHS) Box of Stars Theatre troupe that earned first place at the Zone UIL One Act Play competition. During a One Act Play competition, students have 40 minutes to perform a play in front of a panel of judges and have the opportunity to earn team, individual, and technical awards.The troupe won first place for their performance of The Girl in the White Pinafore by Jiggs Burgess, a production they rehearsed and prepared for in only four weeks. Congratulations to cast members Avery Ragsdale, Kaleb Keilers, Adan Gonzalez, Daniella Rivera, Lucy Bayles, Aiden Ragsdale, Seth Cox, Ty Sollis, Brianna Guetierrez, Hunter Bardin, and Zoe Hockaday. Chorus members include Peyton Buchheim, Ella Conklin, Andi Casey, Lilah Gaytan, and Lilly Bluhm. Technical members are Madi Alaniz, Abby Bookout, Yelitza Sanchez, MJ Sitton, Noah Strawn, Kalia Thorpe, and Marissa Webb. The WHS Box of Stars Theatre is under the direction of instructors Carrie Wood and Andrew Hart. The WHS Box of Stars Theatre will next compete at the District level. Along with the team's first place win, the Children’s Chorus also won an Ensemble award and five students received individual awards. Individual honors go to: Kaleb Keillers - Best Actor, Lucy Bayles - All Star Cast, Avery Ragsdale - All Star Cast, Aiden Ragsdale - Honorable Mention All Star Cast, and Noah Strawn - Best Techie.
