Waller FFA 2022 Livestock Show and Auction

Waller High School (WHS) FFA has once again had a successful Livestock Show and Auction at the Waller County Fairgrounds. This year students exhibited 97 animals, 8 agricultural mechanic projects, and 11 horticulture projects, which raised a total of $165,291.

“Programs like FFA help our students to become lifelong learners who are career ready and set up for success,” Waller ISD (WISD) CTE Coordinator Kelley Lowes said. “Students enjoy the competitions, different learning events, and opportunities. It is also a great way to meet new friends and participate in a safe, positive environment.”

Depending on their project, some students have worked for over a year to prepare for the show and auction. The funds awarded during the auction are given back to the students. Some choose to use the money in funding their next project, while others use it to help fund their college education.

“It is extremely rewarding as an educator to see a student succeed. This may look different for every student. For some, success is winning the livestock show with their animal, and for others, it is simply the pride of completing a project and having the courage to walk in a show ring,” Lowes said. “Success is also visible in watching student’s progress from year-to-year. Our teachers work with students from the time they are freshman until they are seniors. It's amazing to see how they grow through this program as well as their livestock project.”

Congratulations to all WHS FFA participants and thank you to sponsors for supporting students!
