WHS Floral Team Places at State CDE

WHS Floral TeamWaller High School’s (WHS) FFA Floral team competed in the Sam Houston State University State Floriculture CDE, placing 17 in the competition. During this event, students work as a team and individually to demonstrate their overall knowledge and skills. WHS Floral team members were Brooke Harding, Briana Torres, Carson Webb, and Hailey Wilson, coached by advisor Heather Harvey. As a team, they are judged on their ability to work together to complete a project similar to one performed in a floriculture environment such as a florist or nursery. Individually, each team member completed a written exam where they are tested on their understanding of the history of floriculture, terminology, different floral designs, and broad knowledge of different flowers and plants. They are also tested on skills of creating arrangements, potting and pinching plants, and general problem solving. Congratulations to the WHS Floral team on placing 17 in State!
